ST GEORGE’S, Grenada
As Grenada continues to rebuild, another phase of
its housing reconstruction program has now been completed.
 Simon Bolivar Human Settlement
Construction of houses at the Simon
Bolivar Human Settlement at Lacalome in the Parish of St David has
reached its final stage and will be ready to accommodate residents as
soon as infrastructure work has been completed.
The 100 units, comprising single and semi-detached structures, were
donated by the Government of Venezuela. Construction was undertaken by
a Venezuelan military team, most of whom recently left Grenada.
The Agency for Reconstruction and Development (ARD) has been
appointed Project Manager by the Government of Grenada to coordinate
and ensure completion of infrastructural works at the 10-acre site.
The ARD, in consultation with the Housing Authority of Grenada, has
prepared the design works for retaining walls, steps, roads and
bridges, as well as completed the competitive tendering process for
these works.
The ARD has also completed the planning requirements for the
provision of utility services. As a result, the Grenada Electricity
Services Ltd installed poles at the site last week. The National Water
and Sewerage Authority is finalising its plans for services.
