The company says however they cannot sign the agreement until a
particular article is reworded.
Consultant with the Company Nelson Louison who is currently out of the
island spoke to GBN news via the telephone and described the action
taken by TAWU as unnecessary.
Mr. Louison maintains that CCI has fulfilled all the part of the
collective agreement the only contentious issue is article 22.
Asked what the company will be doing to complete the work if this
strike action continues Louison said at this point they are still
hoping for a peaceful resolution to this impasse.
The second entity is the Grenada Ports Authorities.
Just before midday, employees at the sea ports in St. George, St.
Andrew and Carriacou, staged a work stoppage to protest the dismissal
of three of their colleagues. President of the Technical and Allied
workers Union Chester Humphrey says his union endorses the actions of
the workers and demands thatthe management withdraws the dismissal
letters, afterwhich the Union will be prepared to talk with the
Management.
Manager of the Grenada Ports Authority Ambrose Phillip, said the
stoppage has affected the operations at the ports.
